Description: The Allen-Bradley 1771-OJ output module is a pulse output expander module from the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation PLC 5 series. It comes with a field wiring arm known as the Allen-Bradley 1771-WB field wiring arm. The 1771-OJ pulse output expander module can be used along with a stepper controller module and a field wiring arm to create a complete stepper motor positioning assembly. Up to 3 pulse output expander modules like the 1771-OJ module can be controlled by the same stepper controller module. The 1771-OJ pulse output expander module is designed to be used in 1-axis machine applications.
The 1771-OJ PLC 5 Pulse Output Expander Module by Allen-Bradley is a component of the Stepper Motor Positioning Assembly which provides programmable control of the stepper motor of the programmable controller and provides modular expansion of axes from 1 to 3 axis per I/O chassis. The expander module draws 800mA at 5V DC backplane current and it uses an auxiliary power supply with a power rating of +5-30V DC at 340mA (max) with a peak-to-peak ripple less than the specified value for the stepper translator. The 1771-OJ supports 2 input modes (JUG and STOP) with an input signal delay time of 35-120ms from 1 axis through 3 axes in the JUG mode and the signal is a delay for 250ms in the STOP mode.
The 1771-OJ has a voltage range of 1.0V (High) and 0.8V DC (Low state) and with an internal 1.6 Kilo Ohms pull-resistor, the module is compatible with Open Collector Logic Devices. It has a maximum ON-state current of 2.3mA per input at 5V DC and 18.6mA at 30V DC and an output voltage range of -2.6V DC (High), and +0.7V DC (low) at 100mA output current, and the maximum output current of the module is 100mA. The 1771-OJ has 0.6ms worst case rise/fall time at 100mA maximum current and it has a 50% pulse duty cycle. The module uses a 40ft Belden 8771 stranded copper wire with a single wire per terminal and it is keyed to the I/O backplane by inserting connector bands between pins 8 and 10 and pins 22 and 24. The 1771-OJ’s operating temperature range is 0-60 0C at 5-95% non-condensing humidity and the module is CE, CSA, UL, and C-TICK certified.
